NECESSARY PROTECTION FROM SKYLIGHT ACCIDENTS

Falls through unguarded skylights usually results in death or serious injury. For this reason the Health and Safety Executive is considering implementing regulations that will insist on employers providing protection for their employees and contractors from falls through rooflights / skylights.
As falls through skylights and rooflights are unfortunately being reported on increasingly, and becoming a concern to building owners, Health & Safety laws are being tightened  up. Heightsafe Systems are being asked more frequently for problem solving relating to guarding skylights. Our solutions don’t require drilling holes in the roof or the skylight frame, so there’s no chance of damaging the roof membrane or the skylight structure itself. Our unique designs are easy and quick to install and feature modular construction, which are proving to be a popular and an extremely cost effective solution, far cheaper than replacing or upgrading the skylights, and a failsafe way to protect your personnel and protect yourself from potential crippling death or injury claims.

We have solutions which can be adjusted to accommodate almost any skylight, rooflight or dome, providing neat, low-profile non evasive finishes.   A variety of colours and finishes are also available from mesh cage-like applications to bespoke pvc constructions.

As an employer it is your responsibility to determine if the walking/working surfaces on which employees and contractors are to work, have the strength and structural integrity, and every possibly safety aspect, to support them  safely. Employees should only be allowed to work on surfaces when those surfaces have the requisite strength, structure and fall prevention system in place.
Heightsafe Systems have recently been commissioned by a large UK business to provide protection to over 200 skylights to one of its massive distribution centres.
